The Christmas Gift

Updated: Dec 22, 2020

I love Christmas! Who doesn't, right?! It's a joy to set aside time to visit with family and friends. It's fun to give and receive gifts. Some time off from work and our normal routine is nice too.

The True Meaning of Christmas can get lost in the holiday hustle. It's easy to get distracted with our to do list and all our running around. We can make holidays a chore rather than a celebration.

This Christmas, let's really take some time to ponder its meaning. Let's take some time to breath and be thankful. Let's take some time to understand what the true Christmas Gift is.

We may get the gift we are hoping for this Christmas. However, the only Christmas gift that will last into eternity is The Gift that Jesus gave. He came to earth to live as a man and ultimately gave his life for us. The beauty of this Christmas love story is it was planned. It was planned in the beginning!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:1-14

The Word, Jesus, came to earth; born as a little baby. What a beautiful way to show His creation that He is absolutely in-love with them and He wants them with Him for eternity. This gift is... well, a gift! But you must open/receive this gift by faith.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;" Ephesians 2:8

So, if you haven't opened this gift up yet, I encourage you to receive it! Ask the Lord to come into your heart and be your Savior. Receive Him and the Holy Spirit will make you reborn and give you new life in Christ. Your spirit literally becomes born again of Him when you receive this precious gift.
